Dear Olympic Peninsula Community,
It is with a sense of hopefulness for the future, a heavy heart, and a profound sense of gratitude that we write to you today. After much consideration and reflection, we have made the difficult decision to dissolve as an official organization.
It is a bittersweet moment as we reflect on the wonderful memories, shared experiences, and the incredible sense of community we share.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has been a part of Olympic Pride. The Rain Shadow Youth Collective, our Pride events in June, Transgender Day of Remembrance, and your generous donations of time and monetary support through the Farmer’s Market are all memories we hold dear.
While this marks the end of Olympic Pride as an organization, the spirit and celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride continues in our community. We are pleased to announce the annual Pride celebration we’ve hosted for the past few years will now be hosted by The Production Alliance (TPA) with past Olympic Pride president Kerri Kitaji as primary event coordinator.
We ask that you join us in supporting The Production Alliance (TPA) and these other equity initiatives in our community: the Jefferson County Transgender Support group, the local queer support groups in our schools, BLM of Jefferson County, The Benji Project, The Nest, Jefferson Teen Center, and Jefferson County Public Health.
We also acknowledge the hole this may leave in our community, and we will create a path forward for a new community group to reform by also setting aside funds for new leadership to re-establish an LGBTQIA+ dedicated 501(c)3 in our area.
If you have any questions or would like to share your thoughts, please feel free to reach out to us on our Facebook page.
Thank you again for being an integral part of Olympic Pride's journey. We appreciate the support and memories that we've shared as a community.
With heartfelt thanks,
Olympic Pride Board of Directors
